Hello, my Name is Michael Jones, born and raised in Indiana.

I took up the guitar at age 16 and never

imagined that many years later, after retiring that

I would find myself writing / singing / playing

songs for myself and others at this stage of my life.

So, I'm taking the next step in this musical journey

and placing my compositions here on my own web-page

for a larger audience.

 

I began writing poetry around 1970 and have produced 4 small

(self-published) chapbooks of verses. This became the driving

force behind my songwriting, since I never really stopped playing

the guitar. Around 1996, I began using the name PENNYVERSE

banner for my writing. 

 

In 2004, I formed a band with a friend, we called ourselves

"Indiana Breeze" and home produced about 10 CDs for family

and friends with cover songs and originals. My bandmate

Stephanie Wyne and I played for open-house parties and

small celebrations. I credit Stephanie for teaching me to

overcome my shyness about singing.

 

Around 2013, I began attending at local open-mics in Indiana and after encouragement from friends and other musicians began singing in public in my home town. Again, my friends continued to help me overcome my stage-fright.

 

Around 2015, I became part of another band, "Wren and the Jays"

with Kim Renner and Jim Wolpert singing covers and originals 

and we soon began playing paid gigs in Zionsville and

Mooresville, Indiana. Currently in a band "The Jays" with Jim

Wolpert.

 

Writing all the while, with my band-mates (and alone) I now have

over 100 original titles and counting.
